Welcome to the 48th World Othello Championship (WOC), the world's most prestigious Othello event.
The World Othello Championship is the official annual world championship for Othello, bringing together the strongest players from around the globe to compete for the title of World Othello Champion. Organized under the World Othello Federation (WOF), the championship has become one of the longest-running international mind sports competitions.
The first World Othello Championship was held in Tokyo, Japan, in 1977. What began with just five participating countries has grown into a truly international event, with players representing nations from every continent. The championship now includes the Open, Women's, Youth, and Team World Championships, showcasing both elite competition and the global growth of Othello.
The 2026 championship in Helsinki, Finland, is the 48th World Othello Championship, continuing nearly five decades of international competition and friendship. Looking ahead, the 2028 championship will celebrate the 50th World Othello Championship, a major milestone in the history of the game.
The World Othello Championship is not only a sporting event but also an international gathering where players, officials, volunteers, and spectators from many cultures come together through a shared passion for strategy, fair play, and friendship.
